For the people who do the work

Get paid for quick jobs. On the phone you already have.

rentme sends you tasks on WhatsApp — a photo of a storefront, a queue at Home Affairs, an envelope across town. You say yes or no. You do the job. You get paid the same day. No app, no boss, no shifts.

A real task message looks like this

One short WhatsApp. Everything you need to decide in 10 seconds. You'll know exactly where to go, what to do, and how much you'll make — before you say yes.

WhatsApp uses ≈1 KB per task message — under R0.01 of data.

01/How it works

Four steps. No paperwork.

From "you got a task" to "the money is in your account" — usually under an hour, sometimes less than fifteen minutes.

01

We send you a WhatsApp

A short message on WhatsApp with the task, the location, the deadline, and the payment. No long forms, no app to open. If you don't like it, you ignore it.

02

Reply YES to accept

Reply with one word — "YES" — and the job is yours. The payment is held by rentme straight away so you know the money is real before you leave the house.

03

Do the task

Snap a photo, get a signature, drop off the parcel, sit in the queue — whatever the agent asked for. Send the proof back on WhatsApp. It's faster than ordering Uber.

04

Get paid — same day

Once the agent accepts your proof, the money lands in your bank or PayShap-linked number, usually within an hour. No invoices, no waiting 30 days.

02/Why WhatsApp

Built for the way Cape Town actually works.

We're not asking you to buy a smartphone, learn a new app, or burn your data bundle. The job comes to you on the message app you already check every five minutes.

No app to download

If WhatsApp is on your phone, you're ready. Nothing to install, nothing to update.

Almost no data

A task notification is a few KB of text. You can use rentme on a R5 data bundle in a load-shedding window.

Works on any signal

Edge, 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi at the petrol station — WhatsApp delivers when other apps give up.

On 90%+ of SA phones

We don't ask you to learn a new app. You use the one you already use every day.

No data plan? No problem.

We're already in talks with local networks about zero-rated WhatsApp for rentme messages — so even if your data has run out, the task notifications still come through.

03/Real tasks · real money

A tank of petrol from one job.

The agent sets the pay before posting. You always see the rand amount before you say yes. No surge pricing tricks, no tip expectations.

04/The gig economy, rewritten

You decide. Every time.

You're not signing a contract. You're not joining a fleet. There's no driver score, no acceptance rate, no algorithm punishing you for going to a wedding. Every task is a one-off decision: yes, no, ignore.

Take one a week or fifteen a day. We pay the same rate either way.

  • No shifts, no schedules. The next task could come at 09:00 or 21:00 — your choice whether to take it.
  • Money in your account within an hour, not 30 days. PayShap, EFT, or standard bank transfer.
  • Escrow is held the moment you accept. You know the cash is real before you spend petrol getting there.
  • Talk to the agent on WhatsApp if you need to clarify — the address, the parking, anything. They reply in seconds.
05/What you need

Almost nothing.

We verify your ID once when you sign up. After that, the only question we'll ever ask you is "do you want to take this job?"

  • A phone with WhatsApp
  • South African ID (verified once, never again)
  • A bank account or PayShap-linked cellphone number
  • You're 18 or older
